My story
I’m Rachel, a seasoned communications professional and accredited workplace mediator.
Over a decades-long career as a journalist I have developed a mature understanding of cultural sensitivities and the art of effective communication, based on listening carefully and valuing different points of view. My move into workplace mediation is driven by a desire to use this experience to help organisations and individuals resolve disputes and foster collaboration, avoiding the damaging cost of conflict. |
Origins
I began my career as a radio journalist, motivated by a deep interest in human behaviour and the power of narrative. I worked as a journalist in five countries, in workplaces ranging from large global newsrooms to a silent solo office. The country and corporate cultures were diverse, and the people more so. I grew to appreciate the power of seeing and respecting every perspective.

Building insight
On returning to London, I focused on creating internal and external communications for numerous organisations, from small charities to public sector bodies to large multinationals. I founded the multimedia production house Media for the Web, which specialises in understanding and expressing what matters most to clients, mainly through audio and video.

Towards resolution
My communications work has taught me the immense value of respect and understanding in interpersonal relationships, especially at work - and the dire consequences when this breaks down. Keen to make a difference, I undertook training for the National Certificate in Workplace Mediation at TCM in London, accredited by the Open College Network.
